Consultation
Consultation is an important part of the work we do at The Willow Centre. Families, schools, agencies, and other professionals may seek consultation when they are concerned about a child, adolescent, adult, or family situation and would like guidance in understanding the emotional, developmental, behavioural, social, or educational issues involved.
A consultation can help clarify the nature of the concern, identify possible next steps, and determine whether psychotherapy, psychological assessment, parent guidance, school collaboration, or another form of support may be helpful. At times, consultation may also support parents and caregivers in better understanding a child’s behaviour, strengthening communication, and responding more effectively to emotional or developmental needs.
Our clinicians work collaboratively and thoughtfully with families and professionals, drawing on their experience in psychological assessment, psychotherapy, child and adolescent development, family relationships, and mental health.
Consultation may be helpful for:
- Parents
- Schools and Teachers
- Children’s Aid Societies
- Mental Health Organizations
- Lawyers and Other Professionals
Whether the concern is new, complex, or long-standing, consultation can provide a useful starting point for understanding the situation and deciding on an appropriate plan of care or support.
