Ruwa Sabbagh
Dr. Sabbagh has studied the critical role of attachment throughout the life span, beginning in infancy and extending into adulthood. She completed her Master's and Doctoral Degrees in Applied Developmental Psychology at the University of Toronto, in conjuction with The Hospital for Sick Children. Her Master's thesis was focused on the effects of early deprivation and subsequent international adoption of infants and young children. Her Doctoral dissertation examined the effects of adult representations of early attachment experiences on marital relationships.
Dr. Sabbagh received Pre- and Post-Doctoral training in Child and Adolescent Clinical Psychology at the Hincks-Dellcrest Centre for Children's Mental Health, including training in the Watch, Wait & Wonder therapy for infants and parents. Dr. Sabbagh has considerable experience in the assessment and individual treatment of children, adolescents and adults. Additionally, she undertook further training in child psychotherapy at the Toronto Child Psychoanalytic Program. Dr. Sabbagh has an interest in cycling, music, photography and the performing arts.
For over 3 years, Dr. Ruwa Sabbagh was a regular contributor to Today's Parent, a widely read Canadian parenting magazine. She was the child psychology Q&A expert, responding to readers questions and concerns about their children. Read some of her answers.
